The Hygiene Division of BW Converting Solutions, specialized in system solutions for the production and packaging of tissue roll, tissue folding and hygiene products, has rolled out PCMC’s VENTUS-TI. The highspeed production line for folded facial and hand towel tissues marks PCMC and BWCS’s global launch into the interfolded tissue product market.

The market introduction of VENTUS-TI demonstrates the power of collaboration between the engineering departments of W+D and PCMC, now housed under one division. Built upon the expertise of its predecessor W+D 619, VENTUS-TI boasts an impressive capacity of up to 25 cycles or 300 meters per minute web speed.

It not only enhances facial tissue production capabilities but also expands the range of possible products to include hand towels. “When our design engineering teams are developing the next wave of technologies and equipment, our goal is always focused on how we can satisfy customer needs and provide substantial ROI – said Cristian Giuliani, Vice President, global hygiene engineering, BWCS.

The new VENTUS-TI interfolding system line delivers and reaffirms our commitment to be at the forefront of innovation in the tissue sector”. Giuliani noted that the first VENTUS-TI has already been sold. Energy-saving, vacuum-based folding, a wide range of tissue web unwind options and versatile web treatment processes are among the technologies that allow the efficient manufacture of various interfolding products.

VENTUS-TI’s modular design not only offers the flexibility for which W+D and PCMC are celebrated, but also allows room for future upgrades. Additionally, the VENTUS-TI features a quick cut-off length changeover, enabling the production of multiple product options within a short period of time. Its compact layout and unique design ensure high efficiency and easy operation and maintenance.

The user-friendly SmartTOUCH© HMI design simplifies the operation of the interfolder system, making the operator’s work easier. The timing of the VENTUS-TI is auspicious. The rising awareness across the globe of implementing necessary sanitation and hygienic practices among households and businesses is a primary factor driving global tissue product demand.

Tissue paper products for hygiene and sanitary purposes play a crucial role in everyday life, a valued if frequently overlooked asset critical to health and hygiene. Recent research conducted by The European Tissue Paper Association highlights how much the Covid-19 pandemic has made people more diligent about hand hygiene.

In fact, the global tissue paper market size was valued at USD 80.99 billion in 2022 and is projected to grow from USD 85.81 billion in 2023 to USD 133.75 billion by 2030, exhibiting a CAGR of 6.55% during the forecast period, accordion to a recent report by Fortune Business Insights.

The VENTUS-TI is just the latest BWCS innovation aimed at guaranteeing high performance, operational flexibility and waste reduction. Digitalization is another key factor in the design and engineering of new technology and equipment. Optimized data-sharing among all components of the line and control and prevention systems ensures superior machine – maintenance and responsive after-sales service.

“Sustainability considerations continue to play an increasingly large role – said Giuliani. We are constantly looking at smart and cost-effective ways to reduce our equipment’s carbon footprint and energy consumption. For producers of interfold products, the VENTUS-TI is a highly valuable future-proofing investment”.
